Week 4 Posting - BSIT220-T301 - Trouble at the start but learned while reading.

When learning how to run the commands for traceroute and whois, I got stuck initially with the whois command. I couldn't get it to work in the beginning. Then, when I read that for Windows, you needed to download something from Microsoft to make it work. It felt so good to follow the instructions to unzip the folder and copy the file locations. Paste the location I just copied into cmd, and the whois was finally available.

I am glad I had a little hiccup initially because I enjoy trying to do the work without doing research and then hopping into the reading material to see what I did and did not know. I loved seeing the traceroute show me the moment when the connection went overseas to Japan when I looked for square-enix.com

Week 3 Posting - BSIT220-T301 - Fixing My Houses Wiring

When doing the research and reading the chapter for the week, I learned a lot about problems I noticed with the wiring for my house and why my internet was running extremely slow and cutting out every ten minutes or so daily without fail. By researching the cables and learning about the speed specific cables carry and the distances best suited for them, I could purchase the wiring to fix my problem. The internet hasn't dropped once, and my internet speed is reaching the speed I was paying for now.
Not only did I learn helpful information for future employment, I could use the information for my personal life and fix problems in my home. I love this class.

Week 2 Posting - BSIT220-T301 - Terminating Wire

I learned this week that you can cut RJ-45 cable down to your required length. I had no idea that that cable could be cut into and worked on. The term terminating wire was problematic for me when wrapping my head around it. Termination sounded weird to me since you are doing the opposite and making the cable usable. If my understanding is correct, termination means you are ending the wire at that point by closing off the signal by attaching the modular connector. It still sounds off to me, but I need someone more knowledgeable to explain it as if I were a five-year-old. Great lessons this week.

Week 1 Posting - BSIT220-T301 Introduction

Hello, everyone in the IT Blogging space! I didn't think another class would require blogging again, so I am back for another three months.

I am Jesse Garcia, and I am excited to be here once again. I am a gamer before anything else. I love games like Path of Exile, Warframe, and Borderlands 2, and I am currently playing Ni No Kuni. I love anime and manga, and when it comes to anime, I prefer dubs over subs.

I have zero networking experience and am excited to learn about it this semester. Many jobs require it, and so I am ready to get down to business!

Week 10 Posting - Was Fun While It Lasted

I love blogging because it gives me something extra to think about that isn't related to a specific topic of the week. I can write abou...
